Worship Café Experiences
Doors Open at 8:30am (9am – 11am)
What is a Worship Café? A Worship Café is a different kind of worship experience
where the congregation is invited into engagement with each other to listen and share
God’s Spirit and wisdom. The preaching is not one direction from the front, but the
message is gathered through the collective wisdom of those gathered. There is still
prayer, scripture, communion and singing.
What does it Look Like? Here is a what you can expect at a Café.
Enter and receive table assignment
Get some breakfast refreshment and greet those at the table
Call to Worship and Icebreaker question
Question leads to:
o Individual reflection
o Table gathering
o Musical Chairs
o Identify the table wisdom
o Gather to larger group to reflect the larger congregation
Break, Offering and Communion
Second Question same as first
Closing prayer blessing and song
These Worship Café experiences are high energy and engaging. Come and join the
conversation and your God given wisdom as we reflect on key questions regarding this
community of faith.
Identity Worship Café September 13, 2026: Our first Café will seek to gather the
collective wisdom of the congregation regarding Identity and Purpose. The questions
are:
o What do you love about Holy Cross Lutheran Church?
o What words describe HCLC (Brainstorm)? (Leads to 4 Identity Markers)
o Holy Cross Lutheran Church is here to …. (Leads to 4 Purpose Markers)
Community Worship Café September 27 th , 2026
The questions may change before the Café but the focus will be around the following
questions:
o Who is our neighbor at Holy Cross Lutheran Church?
o What gifts do we have to share with them?
Focus Worship Café October 18 th , 2026
The questions will draw out the following:
o What do you hope the next pastor will focus on when they come? (Leads to 5
areas of focus)
o How will HCLC Support the Pastor? (5 areas of focus)
All these questions can be found on the Ministry Site Profile, which is the Resume of the
Church. Instead of having a small committee write this, every member of the
congregation will have the opportunity to engage in this community process.
